mission is to provide leadership, sponsorship, funding and awareness raising support – for recreational activities in Chatham and its surrounding areas. These activities bring better health, vitality, and sustainability to the citizens of those communities and provide essential reasons people choose to live, work, and conduct business in this area. Our ultimate goal – to be a model other communities wish to emulate.

CARP was founded in 2017, is a 501(c)(3), created in partnership with Chatham Area Business Alliance (CABA), the Township committees, and the Chatham school district – to support, and enhance efforts around recreation in the community. Our geographic area of focus comprises ten towns including Austerlitz, Canaan, Chatham, Chatham Center, East Chatham, Ghent, North Chatham, Old Chatham, Red Rock and Spencertown. CARP offers to all in our community, regardless of background or age, a way to connect and engage in recreational activities to create a more healthy, vibrant life.
