Skateboarding and BMX, now both officially Olympic sports, have become an ever more popular activity. Currently there is a huge movement to create more places for people of all ages to enjoy skateboarding and BMX biking, with towns and cities scrambling to create and build skate/bike facilities. CARP helped to lead the effort to reclaim/renovate and expand a small aging structure. And as part of the new design, there was a strong desire to make it more accessible to varied populations while increasing the capacity of the facility. The number of people using the park has doubled since this project began.
Our efforts included fundraising, planning, logistics, project management, project labor and materials and volunteer management.
